My booster pump seems to be boosting from 40 to 70 psi very quickly and dropping back down to 40 very quickly. It used to take about 8 seconds to complete a boost and start again. It now takes about 2 seconds and it seems to be getting quicker each time.

It is from ionics, does anyone know what could be causing this. It is still producing water, just want to know if this is normal or a bad sign??

Sounds like the pressure switch kicking in at 70psi, dropping to 40psi before the pump runs again boosting it back up to 70psi etc etc.
Shouldn't really be cycling like that, cant you adjust anything so as you get a constant pressure just below the pressure switch cut off point?

Contact Ionics.  The pump hasn't been working properly - it should give constant pressure, not up and down - that won't have done your membrane any good at all.

Top of the booster pump there is a black box.....
open that box
inside you will see two springs
all you have to do tighten up one of the springs with spana
or phone up mike from ionics

Ive heard the Ionics booster pumps can be quite tricky to install if your doing it yourself,    give Padar a call and ask him to talk you through it.

I have spoken to Pader and he thinks it is fine. It doesnt sound right though. My mate has same booster pump and has adjusted his so it is constant, but would that make the pump drawer pressure from the mains. If the supplyer thinks its fine what am i supposed to do?

If I adjust either of the screws all that does is adjust the maximum pressure before cut off and minimum which is set to mains pressure. I cant see how i can make it boost slower?

He has a holding tank so he boosts straight from that. I dont. You are not alowed to boost straight from the mains, or drawer additional pressure, you can get hefty fine. He has been through this with thames water. Turns out I have a leaking seal so will be replacing that. Hopefully that will sort it.

After receiving O ring I took booster pump apart and noticed a small chunk or chip where the O ring sits. This would allow the high pressure water to escape. Re assembled anyway with new O ring just in case, turned it on and flooded my shed! Will be taking it back monday. Nightmare!
