When you knock on a door whilst canvassing, and the person who answers the door says....

" yes i already have a window cleaner"

And you look at the frames are absolutely minging,  sometimes the glass too

i would be embarrassed to come to the door and say that.

i must admit, some window cleaners are shocking, some dont even wipe the sills, and those who do glass only should be ashamed of themselves,

well no , actually , carry on....and i will eventually get all your work  ;D

It wont be long before i change my sales pitch to .....

"you have a window cleaner?....

well i will demonstrate to you for free right now , how it should be done.
all frames , glass... and doors and even the awkward one above the conservatory.

you have been warned  ;)

Winds me up a treat when its obvious they don't.. I'm often found muttering unrepeatable things as I'm walking away. I have a lad come knocking with me and he knows now when someone says they have a window cleaner and don't, because he can hear me ranting to myself ;D

Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

yesterday i went to do a first time clean, lady had sounded very friendly on the phone. as i walked up to the house i realized it was shockingly bad , couldnt have been dirtier and i thought "jeeeezus christ " , then door opened and a sour old git told me i must be mistaken ,his cruella deville wife appeared and said it couldnt possibly be their house  so i bid them goodbye

turned out to be a "normal " house a few doors up, what a relief !

Yes I agree.

But some just dont like saying "No thanks" So they use that excuse that they already have a windy.

Some simply cannot afford it no mater how low you go.

i don't think people always intend to lie, it's a way to say NO, without any comeback or upset to the caller,
if they have a windy then you wont come back ib 2 weeks knocking again, and they don't have to explain that they
can not afford or be bothered with windows being cleaned.

very early on it bugged me, but you cant argue with them as it looks pushy, just give them a leaflet and smile.

Darran
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

And after they have got you to clean them suddenly it all doesn't seem so important to them anymore.

If they say they allready have a WC and they obviously dont . Politly ask
"who is he i might know him ? "  9 times out of 10, the reply will be
well its my husband / wife actually , but they havent cleaned them for a while.
Then offer a free quote or carry on with your presesntation , To many WC  buckle up
when hit with with minor objections .

Why should the frames be included? or maybe we are now window and frame cleaners and not just window cleaners. Now dont get me wrong the sills are wiped clean every time but the frames I will keep an eye on and wipe them if I think they are looking grim,  or if the customer asked me to do them, which they never do because I keep them looking good but as for doing them everytime, they dont need it and secondly I price to clean windows and wipe sills not clean frames as well.

I did offer this service as well as windows and sills but all of of my custy's declined saying that paying £2 for windows, sills and the conservatory was already as much as they could afford! Now where is my horse

If you look up a dictionary defination of a window, it will say something along the lines of an opening in a building filled with a frame and glass.

Therefore the frame and the glass = window.

So if you only clean the glass, you're a glass cleaner and not a window cleaner.

(Sometimes I am a 'glass cleaner'  ;D it depends on the job).
