Charging Rate ??
« on: April 13, 2010, 03:42:19 pm »
...for batteries, not cleaning rates....lol

I have just put my 110ah leisure battery on charge after its first initial use this week at about 3.15pm. My charger has the option of 2, 6 or 12 amp charge rate, Could one of you kind gentleman or ladies give me an idea of what charge rate I should have it on. I've put it on 2amp as that obviously seems the safest bet. It will come off again about 8.00am.

The charger has an intelli trickle charge, so as not to blow it to bits...lol

Thanks

12 amp will take nearly 10 hours to charge, 2 amp will take 55 hours to fully charge,....

Hi Nathanael,

Are those calculations assuming the battery is absolutely dead/flat.

The charger has a volt reading on it, and it states the battery as being 12.4V, but I've used it for three days and assume it would need a charge now.

Thanks for any advice

NNNOOOOOOOOOO
if its a deep cycle Leisure battery it shouldnt be on more than 8amp as this actually damages the cells.

I've had a couple go on me and found out by 3 different people that its because I was charging at a too higher rate.

Reaching parts traditional window cleaners can not reach.
