Coffee Stains on wool berber
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:48:26 pm »
I have come across this type of stain a few times now with varying success, the last time i emailed Paul Pearce who pretty much agreed with the advice i got on here, rinsing with f and f rinse ending up using Prochem coffee stain remover, it got most of it out but i was not exactly grinning from ear to ear at the results :(
Anyway i have searched the forums for more ideas and i keep seeing sodium met and Hydrogen peroxide as alternatives, now did i miss this on the two spot and stain courses i went on as i do not remember it being mentioned, its definatley a possibilty but its as though this is some well guarded secret on the forums its offered as a method that works but thats all you get no practical idea of the procedure.
As i have another wool berber with a week old coffee stain on it i thought i would see what other alternatives are availlable, i do have my microsplitter spotter from solutions, and my specialist stain remover from Alltec the mild bleaching one of last resort :P thought i would try rinsing with just cold water first then go from there.

Well I went to clean up 12 cups of hot coffee that were spilled on a white loop piled woolen carpet last week. I used a strong mix of sodium met and like yours the results were not stunning.  Doesn't prochem coffee stain remover have sodium met in it. I think the Craftex one does. As does another product of theirs called shift. I have had very good results with this sodium met before but this one was a real bad one.

Did the job this morning tried Solutions spotter then rinsed with cold f and f rinse, it removed a little, used  Prochem stain pro and rinsed, then prochem coffee stain remover and rinsed stain dissapeared,, amazing.
Dried with hairdryer customer absolutely delighted as was i.

This method was the one Paul Pearce recommended it worked better than last time dont know why maybe because stain was not as old.

But a fantastic result rest of the carpet came up very good too, expect more work from her and friends :)

I allways use Altecs Coffee Stain remover, as long as the custy hasnt done anything daft to it, it nearly allways works on whatever the coffee stain is.

Stinks tho' it smells like a type of bleach that you smell in the hairdressers!!!!!!

Maybe thats the clue, its a type of bleach, I allways rinse out residue afterwards, there is no add this add that, just spray on, leave for a few mins and its usually gone.

I usually have 5ltrs in the van as its so good.
