First day out with new SLX22
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:17:37 pm »
So not having PTFE spray meant I used Mr. Sheen - which works well and smells nice too. I took the biggest (circumference) section off and used it as an eighteen footer.

It also has the black dual trim brush and I did a 2 storey small commercial and a 3 storey farmhouse with it set at 18 ft too.

I did use my other SLX in it's 20ft guise to reach a pair of windows over a flat extension, but that was it.

I now feel "well set up" and all is well with the world!

Still can't understand why you need two? - you greedy sod.

Let me explain (pull up a sleeping bag ...)

In March 2009 I bought an SLX35 - which back then was 30ft of carbon fibre telescopic plus 5ft of glassfibre extension. This closes down to about 5ft 6". I used it for 90% of my work as a 20ft pole - top four sections - and added the extras as necessary.

Therefore the top sections got worn (especially when using Mk2 clamps - before upgrading) fairly quickly but they are still perfectly usable.

So I thought - let's put the pole back to it's 30ft guise and only use it - in it's entirety -for 3 storey-plus work. It's quicker to plug in a new pole and less fiddly than to add the extra sections.

So I decided on a light separate pole for all my domestic work and went for an SLX 22 (which has a shorter closed length of 4ft 9")  which I have taken off the outer section so I use it as an 18ft and plug in the SLX30 as necessary.

This means that I can get more wear (as in timescale) from my SLX30 and start afresh on the new pole.

Method in my madness, Dave! ;D

Also - if my bro works with me part time then he can have a pole too!
