Glimmer to GG3.....Quantities please
« on: March 30, 2010, 06:18:38 pm »
Having used syr glimmer for quite some time, have decided to try GG3 as it seems more concentrated and hopefully will get more for the money once diluted  ??? ::). Also having read on the forum that it won't dry out so quick on the windows in heat/sunlight ??

I have also purchased some squeegee off, as a lot seem to use it as an additive.

The recommendation on the GG3 of 1:1200 seems ....er shall we say seems minimal to say the least.

For those of you that use it, could you please advise what ratio/amount of GG3 you would add to 25 litres of r/o or pure water and subsequently how much squeegee of added to that amount.

Thanks for any info.

Thats correct fieldsy, it keeps the windows wetter for longer, I would suggest getting some sorbo glide to add to it.
I use GG4 and use 20ml GG4 and 5ml Sorbo in 7litres of water.

i usually just use the measuring bottle and fill it up and put 3 x4ml in  half a bucket of water.prob using over twice as much.better glide with more in and still hardly any suds!HEAVEN!! ;) ;)

so do you put gg3 in your pure water for wfp cleaning fieldsy?does that not lead to spotting??

Be prepared to adapt the way you work with GG3/4 when the sun`s out.
But you might never have to anyway  ::).

It`s the same with most low sudding solutions, they are easier to use when it`s cooler/colder. You need your applicator wetter and to scrub a bit more to get it on the glass when it`s hot.
I suppose it`s the same with Fairy in the summer but not nearly as bad. Because GG3 is thinner/more watery I find it dries out quicker.
It could just me being lazy with it or rushing but I remember others on here adding to it to get a few suds.

This is why I use Sorbo Glide.

Yeah, I`ve tried it. Good stuff.
But I think it`s the lack of suds in hot weather that`s the problem for some.
If you`ve been using GG3 in the winter and getting along with it, you might notice a change in the summer. It`s the same when switching from Fairy.
People using the thicker/suddier solution just work the same with GG3 and I don`t think you can.
It`s like using a cheap paint and a dear one. The cheap one is like GG3, you need more coats and keep wetting the brush. But it is worth it for less detailing and mopping up.
Suds made me complacent. Sometimes you are just "whitening" the glass with the soap and not cleaning it. But the suds means it`s easy to blade, so you think it`s ok when that`s not always the case. I also find them messy.
