dazmond if you get a hose reel aswell you can use your trolley as a van mount too so you have the best of both worlds my superlite was already on a plastic gooseneck so i removed the top half with the brush on and put it straight on the bootom half of the brodex gooseneck im not sure if the fit normally heard there a slightly different thread not tried it

the pure freedom trolley has a length of hose on the back of trolley.dont think its a lot though.i could always get a reel at a later date!.

i have a lot of very compact work which i think the trolley will be ideal for.

ill be shelling out quite a few quid!im getting my van in a couple of months, insurance etc, then all the gear!i cant wait to get stuck in with the new way of cleaning and get off the ladders!! :P :) ;) ;D ;D

Hi Dazmond,

Wally the Window Washer welcomes you to the wonderful world of window washing with water using a trolley. You're going to love it.

It's a whole new world of dragging hose round and tripping over the thing until you get used to it. At first your custys will be watching you dancing round like Rudolph Nureyev as you trip over it and get it wrapped round rose bushes and your feet.

You're right about the hose. I have just 10 m on mine and it's sometimes not quite enough.

Here are one or two ideas.

It looks as if water is going to be your biggest concern ... so ...

First of all, get into the habit of economising on water straight away. Have a trigger or tap on your pole and try:

water on - soak and brush the window/frame
water off - scrub
water on - quick scrub followed by rinse.

That will save you at least 25% of your water. That's 11 cans instead of 14, or 25% more customers with the same amount of water!

You'll soon develop a rhythm and it will become second nature.

Secondly,  is there any way that you can collect rainwater? Do you know anyone anywhere who would be willing to collect rainwater from their roof and store it in a couple of IBCs? Maybe a local industrial unit might be willing to let you use their roof and keep a couple of IBCs next to their building. Ask your family and mates to ask around on your behalf.

This is a long shot - maybe even ask a local school who may want to prove their "green" credentials and have a project for the kids to be involved with. Just think of the roof area of a school!

Rainwater is very low TDS (collected from a clean roof in clean containers) and I use mine untreated - no expense at all.

(Only downside is during the long, hot, dry Summers, while everyone else is saying how glorious it is, I have to go outside every midnight and dance naked around the holly bush imploring the Gods for rain.)

hi wally no access to rainwater butts etc.hose down the stairs will be fine.i am on a water meter with roughly 35-45 tds normally.if i use 1500 lts a week my water bills are sure to shoot up even with DI only.ill just have to put this down as another expense of the business along with the resin costs! ::)

hopefully itll be worth it going wfp after i get used to it and the extra expense/hassle!! ::) ;D ;D

TDS 35 - 45 is pretty dam good. We have about 50 and ran 4 systems on DI (no water meter) only for 4 years.

Been informed we will be getting a meter soon so just working out if it is actually going to be more cost effective to switch back.

Early calculations show it will actually be closer than you would think. Especially if I can persuade some customers to let us fill up at their houses.

That saves fuel + water.  ;D
