Tell us about the problem. Is it a Varistream? Many of us have had problems but found the cause of them, maybe we can help.
There are 12 volt speed controllers available in maplins, but you need to take care on which one to use. I have one that runs a backpack pump fine, but have been told that they can burn out if you have a bigger pump that draws more amps.
Tell us about your flow control problem first.

it runs ok until you connect to the micro bore then its very intermittent and stopping and starting shows de on the screen. (digital)
i have tried everything i know to fix it but its not worked.
its a varistream flow controller

The DE that is flashing is to tell you that it has reached the dead end point ie the controller thinks that it has got enough pressure in the line. You need to adjust the point at when the dead end detection kicks in. I believe you do this by pressing the up and down arrow at the same time till you see the word CAL, then adjust the setting up, eg if it is set at 40 then move it up to 45 then press return. Your manual for the controller should show you how to do it as well. Then test it. If still hitting the DE point then adjust up again. Word of caution though, only adjust a maximum of 5 at a time, setting the dead end point too high can cause the controller circuitry to overheat, remember do it in small steps.

Have you A] disconnected the pump pressure switch'
B] adjusted the pump cut off point on the Varistream.
Tried selecting I higher letter and number.
These numbers are not the same numbers you see on the screen in normal operation, these are just pump speed.
The numbers I am on about are the ones you access when you continue pressing the up button when you come to the end of the letters.
You have to go through all the letters until you come to the numbers, the higher the number the higher the pressure.
When you select the higher number switch the Varistream off, switch on again
Then go back and adjust the required letter, again switch off.
switch on again and select the number you want for the pump speed.
If this don't work send it back.

Well I didn't know that, I lost my manual, thanks mate we live and learn.

This is a copy of the email I was sent several years ago by Martin of Williamson Pumps re Varistream Controller

Principle features are:

1 – digital display to set amount of flow (0 – 9, nine being the highest & ‘b’ for boost). Up/down arrows to change flow which is very easy to do. The flow setting is very visible (large red LED)

2 – the pressure shut off is set by up/down arrows on the outside of the box via the digital display (no need to open up the box & fiddle with the blue pot) Mode selection is holding both up & down buttons for 3 seconds which takes the user into the pressure setting mode. Adjust to desired setting (0 -9 & A,B,C,D,E & F, F being the highest). To confirm new pressure setting turn unit off & back on.

3 – flush front panel, no numpty to be knocked/damaged. No pot to get worn out from repeated use.

4 – Unit fully IP65.

5 – Can be used on all 12VDC pump that draw less than 10 Amps at full pressure.

The main features of the old varistream still apply:

a. The Varistream Digital takes over from the pump pressure switch, which becomes redundant (and therefore cannot break)

b. The Varistream Digital monitors the height at which the brush is working and automatically compensates to ensure keep the same flow rate at whatever the brush is being used.

We hope you like it!

Martin

So suds - you need to remove the wires to the pressure switch on the pump and connect the motor directly to the controller. Then set the electronic digital Varistream pressure switch as per instructions.
