180 would seem too slow to me for buffing, be ok for bonnet cleaning carpets and stripping polish. A buffer will need to be 400rpm.

Do you mean buffing hard floors. If so then I agree with Simon, 180 is too slow.

If you mean for bonnet cleaning carpets - just right.

Sorry I have always called it buffing when you all call it bonnet cleaning. Yes it's bonnet cleaning I would use it for, still not used to the different terminology.

I have always used a hydromaster RX20 and i'm not sure what speed that runs at.

A company where I used to work, used them for doing Texatherm work and they were fine.
I'm assuming it's the model with the removable weight (lump of metal), and large easily removed water tank ?
They can also be used for doinf strip & seal work.  2 Machines for the price of one.
As has already been mentioned though, they are too slow for buffing work.
If there isn't enough time to do the job right,  how do we find the time to go back and do it again when the customer is not happy ?   Do it right the 1st Time.

The one i'm looking at is

Taski Ergodisc 238

It does not appear to have a water tank and don't know about removable weight.

To be honest it's something I would use for houses and the odd commerciall. Going to have a go at Bonnet cleaning although it's only a 15 in head. I'm guessing good for houses but could do with been bigger for commercial.

This one? http://www.myona.co.uk/products/204 It says it's 200rpm, whilst the blurb says it's ok for carpets I would look for a 180rpm. I've used a Victor machine for years which has a tank and is 17" and chugs along quite nicely. I brought mine at an auction for £15 (suckers ;D) Not too many that cheap but leave a message on the used equipment part of the forum someone might have one available.

Simon

*Edited to add. 200rpm may be fine, I've never used one at that speed. Wait for others too reply who may have some experience. :)

Looks a fine machine - impress the clients.

Trouble when you get too fast is that you can burn certain carpet pile. Keep the machine moving.

Up to 230rpm is ok for carpet bonnet work, but you need to keep the pads and carpet moist. Some cleaning fluids have more lubricant them others. M-Power and Nemesis are good.

15" is not a problem, mine is 15" and I buy 17" pads for it, no problem. Yes, on big commercials you may be better with bigger, but then 20" is better then 17".

Does look a nice machine as joe said.

Some of the buffres or dry fusion machines i have seen on flea bay looked rusty and not looked after.

This would be great for l m cleaning and s joe said kep the pads lubricated and move the machine around to avoid scortch marks.

Mite have it myself ;D

Absolute RUBBISH ,I have been cleaning using high speed for 18  years now on all carpet types , no known problems with this.

Weight wise a 15" isnt too bad to lift about, just an awkward shape.
17" was more difficult.
If you built like Clinton it wont bother you. :)
