CRB checked?
« on: February 26, 2010, 09:21:49 am »
Have any of you had to be CRB checked?

A commercial  customer has insisted we have the checks done but I'm not sure how to go about it or what it costs.

Contact the local Council offices they'll direct you.  Costs about £60 per person

I have been told that it should be them doing the check on you and not you getting the check yourself, this is because one CRB check isn't valid for another customer.
so if you need one for a school, you will need another check for an old peoples home.

If you speak to the police force, they will tell you they are not worth the paper they are printed on ???, but some establishments do require them. Search on the internet and it will guide you :)

No sure about that. I had one done by my local school and it gave all my details for the last few years. Any criminal activity was shown on the document.

Find out which level they want as there is a couple. Some more indepth than others.

No point you getting the lowest one when they want you to have a different one.

I had the full on CRB check a few times with working in psychiatric secure units and they can take a few months to come through.
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

TBH if someone had a criminal record from years ago and hasn't done anyhting since and is not allowe dto doa job i find it very unfair. I understand that serious crimes should be looked at differently though.

Normally it's for when you work in childrens' areas and vunerable peoples areas.
If you have been convicted of crimes against children etc , then you should definately not be allowed to work in those sort of areas ever again.

I have been CRB checked as I'm a first aider for my sons rugby club. Was going to put it onto the next batch of flyers, but decided not to people might think I'm implying other w/c's who didn't have it were dodgy!!! And we can't have that! :)
