Mike or Doug

Not that I care, but I'm just curious how yesterday I had 870 something posts and today 820 odd.

As I say I'm not keeping count and I'm not uptight enough to be bothered how many posts I have, but it would appear that 50 odd have disappeared overnight  :P

It's only because I've been quiet the last couple of days and sat on the laptop that I've even noticed - not bothered, still got thousands to go before I catch up with Clinton  ;D

The mystery deepens

You lost 50, I lost 400 !!!!

It was I.

I deleted 40 pages from the chat section, a thing I do from time to time, It isnt good reference material and all it does is clogs the system.

The forum seemed to speed up a bit when I deleted them.

for steve barnet,
i was in a letting job the other day with a carpet fitter, the bathroom carpet was 'eaten' all around the edge like carpet moth but without the carcasses. he called it something but i can't for the life of me remember what it was. he said it was a tiny grub that you can't see with the naked eye and that it used to come in the carpet from manufacturer but they now treat the carpet so you don't get it anymore, well, only in this bathroom!!

what is it steve? any idea?

by the way he was surprised that it hadn't spread out of the bathroom

I know what you mean Colin, but I can't think of the name - it was years ago.

Tended to be from cheap foam back carpets from abroad. There was something about the smell of the foam that sent dogs into a feeding frenzy. Many a time I have seen the carpet on a bottom step ruined by a dog trying to get to the foam.

Also used to have a problem with silverfish but that was mainly as a result of the environment that existed in the home.

"Woolly Bear" is a commonly used term for carpet beetle - as the name suggests they're a little hairy looking beetle. Don't see very much of it, they're a lot less prolific than moths, but have had a few suspect cases where I've treated for both.

They're not that small though, maybe a bit smaller than moth larvae.

And the same as moths they'll only eat wool.  What sort of carpet was it and was the backing affected as well?  Sounds intriguing!
