Have you guys been working this week?
« on: January 12, 2010, 06:56:49 pm »
I know Im swearing but I run a succesfull window cleaning business and obvously the recent weather has realy affected us, I also do carpet cleaning on the side (Prochem trained) but I have never really pushed this.
So I am now thinking of taking the business in a different direction as I do enjoy carpet cleaning, so as I said above have you guys been out over the past week or has it affected you too.?

Mostly commercial work. Only a couple of domestics. We did have the Michelin man appear at our windows today. Looked very cold.

We've not had quite as much snow as many other's, nearly all gone now, but business has still been down by about 50 % from last year. Many on the forum use truck mounts which are difficut to get to the clients door in these conditions. I use a portable which normally stays outside the client's front door but allows the option of parking in a hall or kitchen area (only as a last resort).

To answer your question, since the 4th I've done 5 (half) day's work which was pre booked. New business has been quite put is beginning to pick-up. Like alot of other's I've had people phone to postpone jobs. Have to say I can't blame them.

Wayne

I suggest you start a new thread for the NCCA question. Then drink load's of coffee to help you stay awake to read all the answers. Membership of the trade bodies is always a hot topic.

only just been able to get moving now got jobs each day next week and couple tomorrow mostly pre booked before xmas and posponed early jan jobs but had few calls this week and booked few in so its ok.  Lest face it its been snowing freezing domestics are not really making carpets or upholstery cleaning top of the list when its like that. anyways after the previous 4 months nice to have break.
