« on: January 02, 2010, 07:31:03 pm »
So it looks like the 1st couple of weeks in Janary are going to be 'challenging' times

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100102/tuk-forecasters-warn-of-a-freezing-janua-45dbed5.html

So how long can you go without working?

Cheers
Dave.

3 hours further inland than you Dave, a foot of snow here since a week. All next week is average -6 to -8, so it's not looking good. I live 900 meters from the nearest road, so just getting out of here is a challenge. Once we get out though, it will be pole work or downstairs only. Oh well :( :( :(

Had a very dry and hot summer, so this is the payback I suppose.

I reckon we could get 4 weeks work done in 3 if we had too. Would be knackerd, but you got to get it done :(
Just wonder how long this snow is going to need to melt. We can get by if we only do downstairs, but that's alot of money to lose.

This is the worst part of this WC malarky Dave. That's why we are building the carpet cleaning side of the biz. So far this month, we've got about 600 quids worth booked. Nearly all of the carpet stuff can be done late afternoon or weekends, so fits in well so far.

Its more the frustration that is getting to me really..I have a slush fund to get me by and for the most part I have planned for this bad weather so money wise it's no biggy (not that I want to use it really).

It's just that I want to work and do what I am supposed to...I feel useless really...

The snow is ok but it's just when it melts and refreezes that makes it hard...so even trying to drive round in the van is very hazardous I already need a new back door due to damage caused in the ice...main roads can be ok but most houses are on side roads that are just not treated so are like little ice tracks.

I think I like you I need to look at another venture that might help when needed.

This is the Dutch predication for the next week starting Monday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minimumtemperatuur (ēC)   -8   -9/-6      -9/-4     -8/-5    -8/-3
Middagtemperatuur (ēC)     -1   -2/+1     -5/-1     -3/-1    -2/0

I have to admit the Dutch for whatever reason are normally bang-on when it comes to weather prediction...I have learnt to take their word as gospel...

Have a goody...
