Ro set up, work in morning. Help??
« on: December 16, 2009, 01:52:08 am »
Hey AGAIN lol.

Right just finished setting up my ro in my kitchen for work tomo, Havent insulated the Ibc so thought id produce in flat (loft conversion) and have a hose out the winow with the pure into a tank.

Here are my figure, hope they sopund safe and like things should be and im not damaging my Ro.

Have a Hf5 40-40 with two 10" pre filters and a 25 ltr Di vessel after.

Played aboiut a lot with the waste and come up with this.
Valve on waste 9 o clock position is flush and 12 o clock in closed.
I have it at eleven o clock. This produces 60/40 in favour of waste.
Tds in 305 out of ro 9/10 after Di 000.
Pressure with the valve at eleven it 55psi (before pre filters and 49psi after)
Very excited about using the slx, an hope my figures are good, and sound safe on the membrane.

Could of had it 50/50 maybe eve a little more in favour of pure without much tds growing, but didnt know what this would do to the Ro?

Ho often should I flush if im doing 350 ltr per day? and what should I do on the days I dont use it? keep it full and warm?

Thanks for all your help of recent people, and thanks Ian as the commercial you helped me with gave me the push.

Tomorrow when things are going wrong it may be a different story lol!!

I will be orderig 2 x inline tds meters at some point real soon.

You got a 4040? Whats your flush valve and waste like etc, and your tds before after?

Sorry my keyboard is crap. What amount of pure do you have to waste? Maybe you can shut the waste off a bit to make it produce more pure??

I think in this weather you have to take into consideration the hazard of water turning icy, so I stop cleaning front doors with the pole and reduce the flow anywhere that is likely to freeze on pathways ect, Ideally start early finish early before the temperature drops, IMO.

To measure the correct ratio of pure to waste, get a stopwatch, measure the amount of pure produced, and the amount of waste produced. So let's say after 1 minute you had 1500ml of pure, and 3000ml of waste. Add the two together, which is 4500ml. That is 100%, divide this by 100. Which is 45. To get the percentage of pure and waste, divide the 1500 and 3000 in this example by 45.

1500ml pure = 33.3%
3000ml waste = 66.6%

Simple really, Copy and pasted Tims hard writing being lazy!!

I have as above 60/40 in favour of waste,

So every ltr of pure I have 1.5 ltrs of waste.

This made my tds a bit lower and pumping out pretty quick at 55psi.
