Citroen Relay/Peugeot Boxer
« on: December 06, 2009, 07:51:55 pm »
Hi,

Just found a MWB Relay with 2.0 HDi engine and 1100 payload on a 53 plate.. What I need to know is are they any good? I cover a lot of miles and need to know MPG (roughly) how reliable, is it a strong van or is it like my Trafic and 'fragile', and will it be able to carry a truckmount plus 100 gals of water legally??

Any common probs I should be aware of? Its covered 52k and I will only keep it for 12-18 months but it has to earn its keep but in that time it will probably cover 60 to 90k....!

Cheers in advance..

Andi, i know a few guys that have the same van & have had no major problems.  To drive they dont feel as solid as the Ford Transit though.  Depends on which Truckmount you are putting into as to if the payload is enough.  You will be carrying 455 kilos of water, plus the weight of the fresh tank plus the actual TM & waste tank, plus chemicals plus wands and other tools, plus diesel for van plus your weight and anuthing else you will have in the van.

60K per year is on the high side Andi, you must cover a vast area.
If you have a Renault Trafic at the moment then any make of van will be an improvement and the Relay should be a good purchase.

Can't speak for reliability but on payload alone it's no from me for a TM and 100gall water. It would be seriously overweight.

I got a 52 plate Relay with 115k miles.
I have had it the last 20 months  and been no problem.
Havnt got a clue how many mpg - I just know I have to keep it fed with diesel, obviously better on a run.
The cab is good and driving position suits me fine.
