The main difficulty with gutter cleaning in my opinion is that customers think it will only cost them an extra 5 or 10 pounds on top of their window clean.
You have ladders on your van therefore it won't take you any time to clear my downpipes mentality.
This is exactly why I am searching for a quick/cheap way into gutter cleaning that brings in a seperate tool to let customers know that such a job is seperate and charged in an according way.
In years gone by owning a ladder might well mean that a customer would hand you a pair of secauteurs and ask you trim back the foliage around difficult windows and even to scrape paint off of the glass where there painter has been a little lax.
Who has not heard a customer ask them that they tried to spray the fence but unfortunately the conservatory received most of it?
Extra work = Extra cash
Pure and simple, yes take their money by all means, but make it the righ money for the job you are slaving for.
I am desperate for this new gutter vac to work - I really am tired of clearing the odd blocked downpipe for a cup of coffee and a thankyou...
its always going to be a waste of time trying to get the "cup of coffee" brigade to shell out an extra 50 quid to clear a small bit of gutter . most window guys are so busy theres no time to diversify anyway ,plus not any glory in the gutters . when cleaningthe other day a neighbour asked if id run a lick of paint around a bit of pebble dash, no time was my reply. besides what if the colour match was off .
if you are the type of guy who takes the coffee and nips up on the roof to take down a telly aerial etc , dont fight it, be proud of it !!
