Resin useage calculator?
« on: October 12, 2009, 07:29:44 pm »
Is there such a thing?

After RO my TDS is 28, but changing my resin every few weeks, and I wouldn't say I was flat out...I reckon 1200l per week roughly used.

If its any consolation concept, mines pretty much the same. Mains tds is 350, after 200gpd membranes its 20tds before 2 x DI cannisters. This gets it down to 000 tds, but only for about 2000 litres, then it starts creeping up again (this may be about right, perhaps someone can confirm??). As soon as resin is changed straight back down to 000 again. Seems like I'm really going through it, but perhaps this is normal  ??? ???

Using Tulsion resin, which I thought/assume is the dogs danglies  ;D
If Carlsberg made window cleaners....I'd be one of them....lol

The formula came from www.andwat.co.uk/ a while ago. To see how long a 25 litre of resin will last divide 500,000 by your TDS reading, this will then give you the amount of water per 25 litre sack of resin.

Example with a tds of 200:

500000/200=2500 litres per 25 litre bag.

Well if thats correct Mark, I'm just about correct with a bit over.....lol

500,000/350 = 1428.57 litres per 25 litre bag. I get nearly 2000litres...........so not far out  ;)

You should get much purer water from a ro-man 300gpd unit though the production rate would be slower. It is ideal for a static system. Mine produces over 700 litres a day. tds in 200. tds out 005
