frames

hi all and thanks for the warm welcome i got on saturday when i joined.
as promised i want to keep anyone interested in my progress as i go along...
so yesterday and today i've started practicing, i'm going trad and got stuck in to the windows and door on our conservatory and i've got questions for you all already !!!

1. what do you use to clean upvc or wooden window frames ?

2. do you clean the frames before, during or after the glass ?

3. you use microfibre for detailing but what type of cloth do you use for the water coming from the window after you squeegee ?
any help would be very gratefully received.

you can give frames a rub over with damp cloth , i use scrims on trad work as for mopping up and sill's i use old towels cut in half got about 3 bin bag's full should last for years

If I was to clean the frames, (which when I was traditional I didn't bother as it took too long and the customers only wanted the windows cleaning)
I would just use a wet microfibre cloth.

Not sure what you mean for the second question tom.

just wipe them down with a used wet scrim or microfibre, then ring it out and keep it for the sils of the next house.

I always give the frames a wipe before I squeegee the glass.  lots of customers who I have picked up just because I spend an extra few seconds doing because they like the whole window looking clean.  I just use the cheap microfibre clothes you can pick up from supermarkets.

Also if you can sense that they are going to be a regular customer (you can sense in the end) give them a good scrub the first time you do them.  Might take a bit longer the first time but the next time they are so much easier.
