bang and the smell is gone
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:01:09 pm »
first of all, i'm not claiming this is a new thing and ive invented it.
i'm presuming a lot of truckmounters do this or something similar and it would be interesting to find out what each guy does different to rid the smelly tank.

truckmount only of course.

at the end of every day after ive emptied my tank, i fill a bucket of water and pop a few squirts of bleach in it. suck it up and leave in the tank till the end of the next day, etc.... etc......

ive not had a smelly tank since i started doing this and it only takes a few mins. what do you guys do?

I would be a bit wary of bleach ,because of the potential for gas build up . In portables, I have always splashed in some samitizer used in water damage situations to keep the waste tanks smelling fresh.
I clean carpets
I dry Buildings

Not a 'trucky' but I throw a Milton tablet into the waste tank.

If you're asking what Milton is, then it's the tablets mummies use to steralise the baby bottles.

Asda's own brand is half the price of Milton and the tablets easier to bung.   Two or three in our big tank also cuts down on the mosquito bites ; and it doesnt really cause a panic if the dog takes a sly drink.   And theres much less enviro-harm if it goes down the drains.

It gets worse on here I swear ::)

Derek Detol's better as it kills the bacteria and has no ill effect like bleach.
