tomorrow is the day
« on: September 27, 2009, 08:56:07 pm »
Well my backpack system arrives tomorrow so after 6 years of being traditional i am making the switch over. Just wanted to ask a quick bit of advice first on how to clean properly, ive watched a few videos and also listened to advice on here but am i right in how it all works, basically

1. clean the frames first
2. go over the windows with the brush touching the glass
3. pull the brush back and just soak the windows back down.
4. window done and move on?

Also i have seen videos of people cleaning conservatory roof,s and they seemed to spray something on first? what is this and is it neccessery or do you just wash away with the WFP and it all comes up nice?

Thanks ste

Hi Ste, what they spray on the conservatory roof is usually TFR (Traffic Film Remover)
I would never use my WFP brush when using TFR as this will contaminate the WFP brush.
I use a caravan brush if I ever have to use TFR.
I normally just use pure water.

The point in red, I wouldnt just soak the window, you have to chase the water down in a zig-zag motion.
what type of backpack are you getting?

2 pieces of advice I would say is.
1.)make sure the water you have is pure a TDS of 000
2.) give the window a very good rinse.
Also be carefull around the air vents at the top of the windows, I keep well clear of them, because if you accidentally splash water into the vent it will drip dirty water down the window all day.

to start with you will probably use a full backpack on the rear and another on the fronts, this will come down with practice and experience.
I can clean an average 3 bed semi on one full backpack.
I have been WFP since Feb this year.
make sure to brush the black rubber seals around the window as it is these that hold on to detergent and chemicals these have to be cleaned off and flushed out.

Yes, I have a 350litre tank in the van, I make sure its full at the start of the day.
also a selling point to your customers, once you start cleaning with pure water the customers will see that rain water will dry in the same fashion as pure water, spotless.
a few of my customers have noticed this and told me.

yes you can clean in the rain mate, Rain water has a TDS of about 025 and this will be diluted when you clean them.
TDS of 010-015 will dry ok, the marks left with a TDS of that will be invisible to the naked eye.

Hi Ste, I'd like to have a look at how it's working out one day when you're using it if you don't mind, as you know I'm just about to go down the same route myself and local and would appreciate the nosy around how it's working.  Give me a call if you get the time or remember when you're using it one day, ta, Tony 07799226747.  Ohh, and good luck with it.
