Long pile carpet-Advice please-part 2
« on: September 19, 2009, 01:36:27 pm »
Right have now been to see the boat (turned out to be a yatch :o), carpet is beige colour with a few marks which seem to be grease from work men who sorted the boat/yatch before the sale (not a brand new yatch).

The pile is deep, around 1 and half inches. Did take photos but at mo it aint happening when i try and get them on my pc >:(. Never seen a carpet like this and never cleaned one on a boat, done test and from what im told by others i 'think' its saxony/nylon - though not 100%. Asked about the electric and probs of tripping and was told its fine.

To be cleaned are 3 bed rooms, stairs with a very small landing and the main living area - all carpeted areas are fairly small apart main area when you enter.

Few questions if some of you could please help me with please,

1) Can i use HWE (am a porty user)?
2) Due to small working area (bit cramped), i was gona use the hand tool as opposed to the wand-Any reason not to?
3) I imagine drying times will be longer than usual due to the thick/deep pile?
4) What kind of price should i be charging (as said never done a yatch or saxony before)?
5) Whats chem is best to use on this kind of carpet - mostly a freshen over but with some oily/greasy marks.
6) Any other tips?

Any help will be greatly recieved

Thanks in advance.

J

1) yes
2) time consuming
3) yes, use a dryer
4) same as if it was a house with a long pile carpet and a bit in case its hard to board.
5) any that will get the grease out, maybe powerburst and some grease breaker, always test first.
6) £10 on torres to score first. he's due a couple today. ;D

Cheers Derek. So no special clean requirements for a long pile saxony/nylon carpet.

Yeah i new hand too would take a bit longer-suppose add that into cost-but will be much easier id have though than wanding wich would be very akward and may result in something getting knocked over.
