I used to be a member of the FWC, however i found it no benefit to me or my customers to continue being a member,

Magazine, full of adverts for companies i wouldn't use for customer service issues highlighted on this forum like brodex. The articles are far too much is aimed at large companies not partnerships and ST's.

The shop is overpriced and can be found cheaper elsewhere, as I highlighted in the thread a few weeks back.

Insurance discounts can be found elsewhere.

and i already get free legal advise from the FSB which provide far better benefits that help me! such as free business banking, insurance discounts, legal advice, financial advice etc..

Theres my experience, im sure others will have simliar and different points of view.

To be honest, they are nothing but adverts for suppliers,

All of them,...if we get a reply to the contrary then we may find out about benefits...which are few and small.

Nothing of any help for the small guys...thats for sure.

I can do thayt myself through hard work, good work, being reliable and honest, through my company presentation and appearance. I don't need to pay a membership fee to tell me that.

An fwc sticker on my van would not get me work over the competition. In my opinion of course.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I will give it a miss. I saw it was a requiremtn for a tender I looked at for Leicester Uni and thought I would look in to it.

The Guild gives THREE stickers for you van, for a whole lot less than that. (The price's are on the website) :)

The FWC offers a lot more in its package though, very sensible option for the bigger operators.

quite right the fwc sticker will not get you anywhere.

professionalism is in the end how you go about your business. Does it give you anything in the way of benefits or benefit your client in anyway? No.

None of my clients have asked me if im a member - whereas i have been asked if i was safecontractor approved and got a contract from it.

If you want a nice sticker and a membership card to make you feel "a professional" then i guess thats your choice.

I'd love to go, but its a bit far for me to travel this year as there is a new baby in the house. Hopefully next year though.
