which at over £21+vat would bring it inline with other prices.

Try that one in court; your contract is with whoever you bought it off, not Sebo. Anything that Sebo (or any manufacturer) offer is in addition to your legal rights. You have very little comeback legally against anyone other than the retailer.

Add to which, does a company who makes life difficult for you with their aftercare really inspire you to make repeat purchases? It doesn't with me.

Vicol have always been excellent with us. I have to admit no faulty items though.

Try speaking with Aneta Mokrska. If she can't help directly I am sure that she will put you in touch with someone that can.

Part of the agreement you have with a manufacturer to obtain the distributors discount is that you agree to carry the warranty. Some manufacturers allow you a lower discount and they keep the warranty.
It is beyond me why some suppliers are giving stuff away and making 10-20 quid when they know if they have a warranty issue with even one machine it is going to cost to sort it out. We have seen them go tits up already with Olympic ceasing to trade and the people who bought Prochem machines having to scrat around trying to get them repaired under warranty.

Just bought a debo X4 auto from john lewis. Free 5 yr warantee and extension hose, £225, 15 quid more.
I only use for cleaning my house......!! :

yeah an try an get an exchange if its faulty. Having nothing but trouble with them now having to deal directly with sebo regarding any warranty claims.

Yip my last post on this subject was november 08 and i  estimate my sebo has done 600 hrs since then and never had any trouble with it. Unlucky matey

You would, therefore, be forgiven for thinking that the retailer would be falling over themselves to put right this somewhat rare situation.

I bought a BS36 off them last year - very quick delivery - no problems so far.  Bought some chemicals off them as well - alway sfound them very efficeint.
