Bought a new van-key locked itself inside
« on: August 25, 2009, 08:30:39 am »
Morning all. What a great morning I'm having.I bought an Astravan on Saturday, reasonably old,it's a V reg.I left it round my parents last night and in case they needed to move it left the key in the dropdown sun visor inside.I've come to pick it up this morning and found that somehow it's managed to lock itself.Faulty electrics maybe?Anyway, needless to say I need to get inside a bit sharpish.Any ideas?Would a locksmith have to drill the lock or would somebody have some kind of skeleton key?Obviously I'm looking to do it in the cheapest way poss. Thanks in advance.

Try the rear door first.

I had a vauxhall do exactly that, shook the back door a good few times by the handle and it all opened up.

if u disconnect the battery ,reconnect the battery the central locking opens .  if u are lucky the battery terminals will be loosish and twist off with your hands .

naturally u gotta lay under ur van to do it but its not too hard

cant you try a coathanger down the door or i once heard if you cut a tennisball in half and placed it over the lock and pushed it (forcing air thru the keyhole) it would open

never tried it but just what i been told

Just managed to open it with the old thin plastic strip through the window seal technique.Never thought it would work but after much arseing about  managed it.Thanks for the replies anyway. As it happens it's a bit worryingly easy to break into with a bit of know how.
