How much to clean a three piece suite?
« on: August 19, 2009, 05:15:21 pm »
Hi all

I was just wondering what everyone else charges to clean a 3 piece suite. I know a lot of you quote on the condition, level of soiling etc... But lets just say the above survey is based upon a bog standard, average soiled Draylon 3 piece suite (5 seats). Do you quote on the job or per seat? I currently charge £20 per seat but am thinking of upping it to £25 and seeing how it goes (the reason for this survey).

TIA for your input!

John

Hi John , I charge the same as you , but looking at the results of the survey it would appear most charge £25.I was also going to up mine to £25/seating unit .

Hi Dave

I think maybe £30 per seat would be an even better option. That way if the customer hums and hars then we could put it down to £25 per seat.

would you charge the same for two 3-seat sofas as you would for six armchairs?  Both got 6 seats but theres 8 more arms on the chairs!!

We recently posted about prices for upholstery cleaning and the percieved value by the customer of it's costs, I'm finding that to get the premium prices a visit is required but you can sell protector.

Something I can never get my head around on here. Why don't you just keep putting your prices up until you notice a decided downturn in closes (which is a tried and tested technique). At which point you can back off a bit, increase your selling ability or learn to prospect better.

You can't really lose because when you find the high side, what you lose you already made up for along the way.

On the other hand you can listen to the guy who does council for beer money or the part time cleaner to the rich and famous and neither will relate to your business.  :-\

Mike

I think you'll find that both Clinton and myself have done just that sort of approach.

You just put it more succinctly

Well there you go a 'proven' system used by two of the big earners north of Watford!  ;D

They do say that if you close more than 6 out of 10 then you aren't charging enough but I don't see that as the full picture you do have to close at the right price and if you charge accoringly you will keep that customer if you take advantage of the situation because they need you now they may not come back, pricing isn't just what you can get for now you have to offer value not to be confused with cheap.
