TDS rising Help Please
« on: August 18, 2009, 01:54:02 pm »
My Tds is sky rocketing and I have no idea why. About 200 litres ago I changed all filters and DI Resin and got a reading of 000. This morning when I turned the machine on I had a reading of 001, I then checked again after an hour and it was reading 002, 3 hours later 007. It is an RO-MAN and filters and DI were purchased from RO-MAN also. I flush the system regularly.

Could the membranes have had it? or could there be someother reason?

I have calibrated and tested the tds metre. ??? ???

it is an ro-man 300gpd

Tap water 301ppm
The DI is built into machine, my water has always come out at 000 before. It did rise to 004 before I changed the filters and DI resin then back to 000. I made only about 200 litres then went on holiday for two weeks then this problem occured.

what is the tds reading out of the ro before di?

Likely that the ro out is too much tds for the polishing di you have. You'll probably need a bigger di cannister.

3x membranes were told that they were 100psi, although brought secondhand and have no instructions

I think thats your answer.

Any second hand is dodgy you cannot guarantee what went on before hand. You have no instructions so cant be sure of the rating (unless its printed on them)..

I reckon the membrane/s have gone..

see what some others say when they come online..

Im not sure, but i think it goes from one to the other then to the other then to the other, so the first membrane gets the most psi in which case the first membrane has likely been shot to death..

phone ro man direct and try and ask them.

Try bypassing the first membrane and then check the reading.
