Any final tips
« on: August 09, 2009, 11:06:03 am »
OK so, ive purchased a couple of squeegees, bucket, 2 piece ladder, complete washer, scraper with blades and a few scrims. Ive got cards made up from vista print (with the foil effect, woooo lovely) and I have put on cards and will mention on canvassing, that I am a Firefighter to try and work the trusted member of society angle as advised by your expert selves ob here. I am currently practising on windows at home and perfecting my technique, again using methods I have read about on here (you guys are to kind) and other websites.

I have decided to drop a hundred of my cards around local villages as of September and will see what response I get from them. If none then I will knock on the doors I dropped at, and try some cold calling and see what works best.

Does this sound like a good first time strategy (make it sound like im about to invade guernsey) and are there any final tips????

Cheers once again

Ryan :D

If your gonna drop business cards  then drop a few thousand, a 100 isnt enough.

Knock on door and ask if they require a window cleaner and then give a card

dont waste them by putting thru the letter box

Its not cold calling, its knocking ;)

Are you in Guernsey Ryan ? Or was that a joke ?

Just my mum and sister live over there. Mum is in Cobo Bay and sis lives in St Peters Port
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

No I live in Kent, just pulled Guernsey out of the air for some reason.

I only ordered 300 cards so maybe door knocking is best, just being gutless I suppose.

Anyone else had cards from Vista Print with the foil effect, any good?

Thanks for posts, Lyndy what other methods have you used or are you gonna use for getting customers and what equipment have you purchased.

And what do you work as now, Im a firefighter so will be working on my days off (hopefully) Are you keeping job you have or going full time w/c

Cheers

Leaflets and cards through letterboxes are said (by marketing types) to have a 1% conversion rate, so 100 would get you maybe 1 job.  1000 would get maybe 10 jobs etc......
I'd say just knock and ask.  Much better.  It's a bit scary if you're not used to it but it's worth the effort to just go ahead and push yourself to do it.

Vistaprint are ok.  I've had foil cards from them in the past and they're fine, especially for the price.

True, suppose il just bite the bullet and do it.

Il just ask if they currently  have a cleaner and if they do, leave it at that, seems to be the best opinion of most on here,

Im in Sittingbourne, andyjs1uk but im willing to venture out anywhere to make a start

Well whatever pays the bills mate.

Im hoping this will give me a bit of money on the side, because what I earn now pays the bills and thats it. So far, on equipment and cards iv spent £75, so gotta get cracking now.

Was thinking pricing say 5 for a terraced house just front, 10 including back. And 7 for semi 12 including back. would love to try local shops but fear they will all be taken and to hard to get. Just going to start with residential and see what joy I get
