Ive got a 500 litre system in my van and i also own a trolley
i would say i use the trolley 75% of the time as it is easier to set up and when by barrels are empty i just use my van system to fill them back up

do you use a Submersible Pump to fill them up or do you just use the pump from your van system

We only used the van systems until recently. I bought a couple of 2nd hand Freedom trollies off a mate who's business I bought.

The lads with the trollies use them a lot and they get through more work in a day than the others in the main. They are very well built and designed. I am pretty sure that I will be buying more of them very soon. The addition of the trollies to the van systems makes a big difference although I wouldn't want to use trollies alone.

I bought a Freedom Trolley when I first started...then very quickly created a DIY Van mount.....

There is nothing wrong with getting a trolley and then using that as your 'control' for your van mount...hey some people use only backpacks...being a showoff I have all 3...but each one is good for particular jobs...just a case of the best tool for the job in hand.

Cheers
Dave.

i have allways used a trolley / cart

then after my hernia ( start of the year ) i decided humping around 25 L barrels wasnt that good , so i fitted a 400 L tank in the van

the idea was to sub pump the water from my rain water butt into the van tank and then use a cheap 14 L per min 12V caravan sub pump to fill the barrels from the van, less that 2 mins per fill ( as far as i was concearned it was the same time spent as reeling in and moving the van )

then after a while a few said i was crazy and to get some hose and use it as a van mount, so i did

i tried and tried to use the hose as a van mount, its ok on bigger jobs where you are parked up for a few hours ;) it works great

BUT

for domestic house after house after house, it just doesnt work, the hose gets caught on everything :( it really does, on plants, on wheelie bins, on pots, on just about everything, its just not worth the hastle

so i still use a trolley a very high % of the time

pj    :)

Changing containers isnt the only thing you need to consider when using a trolley.

You also need to consider the added inconvenience of taking that trolley with you everywhere, round the backs of houses, down alleyways, in between crowded wheelie bins, and all the while inconvenienced by the fact that you are likely to have to move it fromone side of a house to another.

I have used a trolley system for a year and van mount since. Trolley is great, but van-mount is the bees knees.

When I went from ladder to trolley I increased my turnover by at least 50% overnight, when I went on to van mount I added another 15% to that.

Using a van-mount, pull up at next house, open back door to van, grab pole, pole hose and keep walking. It is very very easy generally, its true you get caught on things and that is blimmin annoying, but you also get caught on things with a trolley.

easily overcome by having a 20 / 30 M hose reel attached to your cart ( mine is 20 M )

I have my backpack mounted on a lightweight trolley.  Might sound a bit naff but because I've made a good job of fitting it, it looks very acceptable.

I liked the total freedom of the backpack but as I'm getting more work now, I have to consider my back.

The one thing I can't decided on is how much 8mm hose to have on the trolley.  The length I have on there at present is way over what I have needed so far but wonder if any of you have found an optimum length.  I find it very easy to walk round with the trolley, so it's always on the side of the property that I am cleaning at the time.

van mount all the way ;D
i started wfp with a diy trolley and after the first week added a small hose reel cos i found it quicker than pushng the trolley around, took me another year to get van mount sorted and in theory i can switch back to trolley in a few seconds cos i built it that way,but......i never have  :)
apart from anything else no more lugging 25ltr barrels around........priceless
