Leave the prices off your leaflets.

If you want people to see that you're serious about your profession, quote each job and work on selling your services to the customer, face to face.... Obviously you get those custy's that just want a clean and price isn't an issue as such.

If you put your prices on your leaflets, that will become the issue, you'll be too expensive to some and too cheap to others. Yes, you'll probably never have to talk to a dreaded price shopper, but these people can be won over at times, you may also run a risk of only netting a  few customers. The issue should be why your customer is getting value for money and you're the best carpet cleaner for them.....

Hi Mark,

I'm not a great believer in leaflets but if you must I wouldnt put prices on. Fair play to people that use them effectively though!

Customers are individuals, you can gauge their requirements over the phone or during a quote in person. If they need a basic clean then quote accordingly, if they need furniture moving, vaccing, stain pre-cleaning, cleaning, drying, protecting, skirting boards wiping down etc. the full works different matter....

I've never used leaflets but firmly believe if you publish a price custys expect miracles & everything included. Sell your service then you can explain different levels to justify your cost.

Hope this helps.

All the best,
Jason.

Mark,

If you publish your prices you remove the need for the prospective customer to ring you because you have already told them what they want to know. Think about it, you see an ad for something which seems to be what you're looking for, but the only thing you don't know at that stage is how much, so what do you have to do to get that question answered? Ring!
If you have an attractive and informative leaflet that arouses their interest, they'll ring you to find out more. Ok, you may lose some because your price is either too high or too low, or they just don't like the sound of you, but at least you got the enquiry.
It's donkey years since we used leaflets but there are some pretty shrewd exponents of how to do leafleting effectively on here.

Simon has said it.  Once. you get them on the phone you have to sell the job before you give them the price as soon as you give them the price they will want to get of the phone so ask them questions and interact with them before giving a price. Unless a cheap price is all you have to offer.
It would also be a good idea to go to someone who specialises in carpet leaflets as they are more likely to know what works. I have always done leaflet dropping but normally just in houses in the streets where I am working normally about 20000 a year.

I used to do price vides on leaflets, trouble was you take a booking over the phone, turnip to the job and either carpet was minging or the lounge was like a furniture auction room !!
I now look at every job first and have a decent minimum charge.
Doing the prochem course woke me up to the fatal mistake I was making!!

If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

Whilst i dont price on leaflets, I do mostly price over the phone BUT it is only an estimate subject to condition.
Explain this to phone callers, gives me leawat when I turn up and they mingers or like an auctionroom.
You could put a little star next to your leaflet prices and a note in small print at the bottom "subject to condition"

once youset your stall out you will find whats best suits you

I used to put prices on my leaflets still got load of calls ( my prices were quite high) and at least I never got the price shoppers who wanted their livingroom cleaned for £30.

I always put on the bottom  "our prices are based on £3/yd2, for your piece of mind we will give an exact quote when we arrive"

why would putting prices on a leaflet stop people calling?, surely they want thier living room carpets cleaning, they see your price of £90 , think its reasonable (and a little bit less then they paid last time)so they call.

what if last time they used Chemdry or a fastracker who charged they £160 for their living room, will your leaflet with a price of £120 for the same carpet really put them off? they'll think its a bargain :D

with prices....... without price............ colour...........black & white......... A5........ A4....... glossy....matt

they all work

Hi Guys

I had something like a million leaflets delivered all with prices on over a 15 year period.

Prices were mid range.

It works well if you like the customer to ring and book because most will already have decided to ring you.

There are pros and cons with every approach and it depends on whether you like/want to go and quote, I liked to go out in the evening ;D

Cheers

Doug

Hi Joe

many thanks for the leaflet idea.
I have accepted bookings in the past but still visit prior to doing the clean to confirm prices with customer based on what I find on my visit.
