I hoping for some help with a problem. A neighbours suite was recovered in February with a mid coloured, patterned chenille fabric. After only four months of standard wear the seat pads, backs and arm pads have become discoloured. On closer inspection it appeared that the dye had transferred from the base of the fabric and discoloured the lighter areas.
The fabric manufacturer claims the discolouration is due to dye transfer from clothing onto the upholstery and are refusing to take the matter further.
Despite the fact that my neighbours are middle aged and don't wear dark coloured denim, is four months a usual time for discolouration to occur? In addition can a customer be expected to dry clean the covers every four months? Or could there be a problem with the fabric?
My neighbours don't know where to turn. They paid a significant amount of money for the re-upholstery.
Any help would be much appreciated.
