Hi guys,

Thought i would share my experience with you today.

I had one regular customer and a new one to clean. It was raining about medium when i got to the regular.

He came out and said 'are you sure about cleaning in the rain' ? Out of no where i came out with 'your windows are like my advertising boards, if they werent clean, it would ruin my reputation'

After that he was fine and understood where i was coming from.

New customer came out with a similar comment and got the same reply as above. She completley understood too and came out in the rain and commented on the windows. She was really happy and i was really wet  ;D

Thought that might help some guys out when its raining and you get 'one' of them custys

I cleaned a custies house on Sat, its been horrid this past week, and went back today and the windows are near prefect..

She said to me, when i cleaned them in the rain "are you sure?" I said "no problems if they are not near perfect after all this rain come later in the week, i'll re clean for free".

They just need educating that its not the rain that causes dirty windows..

But i like you line!

Might use that :D

I'm cleaning in the rain
Just cleaning in the rain
Just don't give a damn
If the customer complains

When I get all wet
I'm never upset
Cos cash in the bank
Is as good as it gets

Let the stormy clouds chase
The trad guys from the place
With the pole in my hands
I've a smile on my face

I run to my van
As fast as I can
Been cleaning
Just cleaning
In the rain.

cozy

It was a lovely afternoon here yesterday.  A customer stopped me because it was going to rain hard today.  In fact, it threw it down last night with lightning too.  Still considering my options on this one.  If it was one job on its own, it would almost certainly be history.  This is a customer who never sends a cheque and making me wait until a second clean to collect two lots.  I've even supplied my bank details to no avail.  My only concern about dropping the job is that I have some fairly decent work in that immediate area and if I cause her to go elsewhere, others may follow.
I've already let her know that I was unhappy with the cancellation and that I don't get let off my mortgage if it rains so she may well go elsewhere anyway.  No great loss so long as others don't follow.
I may take the route that short notice cancellations are charged at 50% in the future.  This incident directly cost me money because it was local to me and it was too late and impractical to travel and do a replacement job elsewhere.  If I had known that my workload was going to be less, I would have targetted another area that is due with a bit more work to do.

i would make them realise you are regular and reliable regardless of the weather should they NOT want a regular and reliable service, then they should contact you when they want the clean and you will charge according to the service.

I have had this a number of times, and i now see why they start off with, my window cleaner never shows up.

Be honest with them.

Ive had a few ask me where i am lately and ive said "ive missed you out as it was due to rain the following day and you turned me away last time so i didn't bother turning up this time".

The penny soon drops - or you drop them..
