Do people think that a company website would benefit there business or do you think its another expense that isnt really needed to progress a business.

it isnt a necessity, you can grow a business without it. but if you register it with google and msn and ask then its advertising.

internet is the main way of advertising these days, if i want a product or service local to me i open google and find what i want, i know some will reach for the yellow pages etc but i reckon they are on the way out (give it a year or two and the govt will outlaw paper) 8)

You can get affordable websites from £150 then just hosting every year like www.ltcd.co.uk he charged £300 for my site then £40 per year hosting.

People are getting lazy when it comes to yellow pages so a site is ideal

If you want commercial work then even more so.  ;D

Gives the right image having a website / you can even get clients to pay via your website.

Websites are a useful marketing device. Having a proper email address, rather than one ending in Hotmail or Yahoo is also useful. I also let my customers pay by Paypal through my website which saves me having to collect.

I made up my website myself as I enjoy having a muck around with web design software. I use a US hosting company called Fluid Hosting and have used them for years without any issues. They cost me about a tenner a month which may seem pricey but that's for five websites.

have a look at it. I've recently changed the colour scheme and in the process of changing it all around so please dont mock it to much.

Nice site Mr D, but it needs some work on the optimisation. I just did a quick Google search for "window cleaning Dorset" and afyer 5 pages of results gave up looking for you!

Have a look at the tags here:
http://www.dorset-window-cleaning.co.uk/

Its a site I did for a mate,... it was the 2nd listed in google in that search,..... ;)

I agree NJ. I used to put alot of work in i.e adding links changing bits around add it to google regular but I've not bothered for months coz I'm pretty full of work and had other projects on my plate.

That site great

good optimisation shouldn't need updating too often,.. its worth the effort getting the tags right, you'll get a lot more work through your website if you do.

How long do you think it will take to clean that college Nat?

I reckon in and out would be at least a week for 3 guys, there's some real awkward access bits. I'm not even going to quote it to be honest, I'm behind on my regular work and prefer smaller, more local jobs where payment on the day (or soon after) is easier to achieve. Nice to be asked though. ;)
