for all those who have more than 1 van how much extra does it cost to to insure? is it cheaper on a combined policy? how much does it cost to have an employee driving the van?

I'm thinking of getting a new van and rather than sell my old one I thought I'd keep it and fit it out with the spare T/M thats sat in my garage , then send out mt asistant to do the easy straight forward jobs

If memory services me correctly it depends on how you do your policy, things like named driver and age and no claims come into it so there isn't a straight forward answer, my missus used to work for Norwich Union and before that brokers so she said the more 'definates' you can add to the policy the better teh price will be, I think it was a separate policy also not added to yours as if you have an accident then it would reflect on both poilcies, mileage and garaged may come into it also.

We now run 7 vehicles and the easiest way to do it is on a "multi-vehicle" policy, we use More Than Business, but CVD also do similar.  

You should be able to get them to mirror your NCD from your first van onto the new van, however they can only do this once.

Getting employees onto your insurance is pretty straightforward and reasonably cheap.  Make sure they are over 25 and have been driving for over two years, also make sure that they have no points, convictions or claims against them.  You can have up to 4 additional named drivers on your policy, or you can also get an any driver policy, again it only applies to over 25's.

Mobile camera offences don't affect your policy, I have 9 and it doesn't make a difference, they are looking for driving with no insurance and previous drink driving etc, speeding points they see as no risk.

After having a quick word with her in doors you will find that just about all companies have their own set of rules with multi van insurance a broker may be better to do the hard work.
