Taking opinions on website designs
« on: June 30, 2009, 04:16:02 pm »
I would like to get all of you guys opinions on what would YOU like to see out of a carpet cleaning or any cleaning related site?

I am working on a client that lives in the USA, Los Angelos-California and is targeting Beverly Hills ( http://www.carpetcleaninginla.com - site just opened up 1 hour ago and is only 50% complete) - Trying to target the high end clients and would like your opinions.

-What do you think is the most important to a customer when the first visit a business website?
-Are photo/video galleries necessary?
-Picture of you or family important on the homepage?
-A ton of information to read or just simple to the point?
-What about comment/survey forms?
-Does customers care to see certified firms on the website?
-Social profiles, since the times are moving fast and everything is going to social networking, how important do you think it is to sign up on facebook/myspace/twitter/etc to keep in contact with most of your online clients?
-Do you think it would be valuable to add information that has nothing to do with cleaning services but info about whats going on in your local areas? (I believe this is very valuable, especially if you have a blog added)
-How would you target the premium clients from your website?

this just my opinion but i think that obviously we a as prof in out field obviously are very interested in the the technology and more complicated side of the cleaning that is at the end of the day a science . i think sometimes with this in mind it is easy to fall into the trap and let your site or sites become too busy and there fore people look on. i think pages should be kept to what is deemed to be nessessary eg carpet cleaning, upholstery, commercial, contact, home, gallery etc when acanning the webs as we all do as human beings being nosey i sometimes look at sites and almost get a headache looking at the homepage.

i believe something simple eye catching and easy to navigate around and custy friendly so it gets to the point is where i would be heading

i do like your sites though tre

but with all this in mind you can have the best site in the world but it has to be found

I appreciate the opinions Richard. I do agree, what is the point of having a website that cant be found. I do know of many people who still do not believe in internet marketing but rather just putting their url on their print material to bring traffic, but this doesn't do much good. Besides that, every client I have installed a site for has set many jobs from their website, so they all have been found :)

I have to admit that I like your sites, they look fresh and a bit different to a lot of the sites I see in this country.

I would even be interested in you building me one - but I have to say that the biggest problem I have is with the price. Both of my sites listed below were built by carpet cleaners, including SEO, for a fraction of the packages you offer - and I can't see much point in going for anything less than the gold package.

Although I am happy with both of them I wouldn't suggest that they are as up to date looking as yours.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to analyse and critique them for me and then perhaps explain what you would be offering for the extra money you charge - particularly as both sites regularly bring in work, which is easily proven as I don't advertise in directories.

Regards

Steve

Great looking site and certainly different from the norm as Steve said. The questions are very good too but I haven't got the time just yet to go through them.

Are you trying to get hits on these sites? By posting them on here and probably other forums. The hits will look good for your stats, then show your potential clients/buyers of the amount of traffic they are getting.

If you notice what statistics looks like you can tell exactly where the hits came from by choosing which category you want to list, robots/spiders/crawlers/search engines/external links/etc.

Clients can careless about hits from a forum, eh  :D

It just seems weird that you didn't like the comments on the other thread, and basically saying you know your stuff and everyone else doesn't. then you start a thread asking for opinions.

"Clients can careless about hits from a forum, you should to eh". Oh, of course, all these people will know where the hits came from. You only need to show them the stats, not where they came from.

Is it just me or does somthing not smell right. ;)

Not sure what agenda you have here.

Aside from that, there is always a room for improvement, that being the case I would love to hear opinions of others.

I will quote the same thing I did when I was interviewed in the ICS Magazine: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/bnp/ics_200903/index.php?startid=22#/22

"Times are changing, and changing rapidly. All media and advertising is moving rapidly to the internet. Soon will be gone the days of consumers picking services and printed media."

All my clients have the ability to check their own statistics to view exactly where the came from. Its not like you just show them yeah here is your hits, the program is more in depth than that, this isnt the 1900s, not sure what programs your using.

Would it make you happy just to show pictures of what clients view every single day?

My name is Bob

I don't have an agenda. I have an opinion and if you don't like it then so be it.

People who post on here like Doug and Rabby have been doing web sites for a long time, all be it, they may not be the best looking sites i have seen (sorry guys) but they have done some good SEO  Then you appear and all of a sudden people don't know what there talking about. Tre, your sites look good, I am not knocking that at all. Its the way you are going about it that is what my opinion is based on. My wife also knows her stuff on web design and SEO and has 25 years experience in a senior IT roll . She has also done extremely well getting my site of the front pages of google for carpet cleaning, leather cleaning, upholstery cleaning, eco carpet cleaning.I will get her to do a Wordpress site to see how that goes. I will let you know when it is done.

Doug & Rabby does a good job, I have also had people email me and state that Rabby is a man of wisdom and has helped others in many cases.

I wish you and your family success Bob.

My thoughts:
I did find it strange that someone who builds web sites for carpet cleaners would come on here and ask what carpet cleaners would want!
Have you paid the owners of this site for the purpose of selling on here? As many have been repremanded for doing this.
We don't cut corners, we clean them Has this statement been trademarked anywhere? I only ask because a former moderator on the window cleaning side of this forum has used that very 'statement' on his vehicles and advertising literature for many years.
Nice site btw, perhaps a little over jazzie for this side of the pond but if it works for your client then fine.

Hi Guys

I have locked both the website topics for now as they have gone too far down the advertising route.

Tre I would suggest you contact Admin or Mike Boxall and get the latest advertising rates for this forum.

Cheers

Doug
