i find any pole base  over 30 mm will cause this, if the pole sections can be seperated, then use only what you need, say domestic for instance, you would not need 36ft, so break it down to a smaller pole, and the base becomes smaller giving you less numbness in your fingers

o one thing to ad, since i changed over to the harris pole for domestic, the numbness stopped in my fingers, the pole is so light, and the base is just right for your hands, if its domestic work i would  get one, or an sl-x pole

I think Simon has hit the nail on the head...I have found that I grip the pole far too tightly....and now try to make a concious effort to grip more lightly.

use a power pole for nine hours and you will find your pole a doddle to use.

or less grip on your pole

I looked into it alot further than you have mate, I ended up with CTS (Carpul Tunnel Syndrome)

I'd get it checked out just in case.

Many people who have carpal tunnel syndrome have gradually increasing symptoms over time.

The first symptoms of CTS may appear when sleeping and typically include numbness and paresthesia (a burning and tingling sensation) in the thumb, index, and middle fingers, although some patients may experience symptoms in the palm as well.

These symptoms appear at night because people tend to bend their wrists when they sleep, which further compresses the carpal tunnel.
