Seem to be going through loads of resin
« on: May 31, 2009, 05:05:08 pm »
I've got one of these 70 ml DI polishing units and it seems I'm forever replacing the resin.I know a lot of you say that these small units are lousy but I've only got enough customers at the moment for one day a week-ish and only need around 200 litres a week. The TDS reading from my tap is 350 odd and from the RO is about 40.It seems that after about 150-200 litres of pure water made the TDS reading starts creeping up from 000 and I have to replace the resin.Does this sound about right?Fair enough,if it does,I was just expecting it to last longer.

40 from the RO seems high to me.  The resin usage is probably about right as 40ppm will deplete it fairly quickly.

So you think the RO isn't working up to scratch?Any other ideas to bring the reading down?

maybe get another resin vessel and use 2, as at the moment you binning resin that has life in it and it is a waste

It probably is about right (I'm assuming you mean 700ml rather than 70?)

When was the last time you changed filters/membranes on your ro..as 40ppm does seem a bit high
