hi there, my steempro needs some tlc, it has a crack underneath the machine (theres a hairline crack in the body along the underside) i have noticed a small amount of liquid (initially looked clean, now appears to be dirty water..but to be more accurate im really not sure..
, ..
money is very tight at the moment and im thinking of a diy job or perhaps somebody in the northwest (liverpool) (whose rates are reasonable, and can fix it.)
any help would be greatly appreciated...

shouldn be leaking water from there unless on of the 3 pipes need to be tightening up .
2 bolts at the back , unscrew lift open carefully ( rest the top end on a box ) and have a look inside while the pump is on .
Im not a tech type person at all but I was having a look in mine yesterday while a proper eng talked me around it and its so basic its silly .

Might be the h/pres pump on it`s last legs ? mine has always started leaking just as the seals are on their way out,prob dirty as it`s rust from the mounting plate,easy to replace

Hi,

Our Steempro usually leaks from the hose coupling at the back of the machine. The best way to describe its position is to look at the hose that comes off the pump (ie the pressure side rather than the tank side) and trace it to the back end of the machine where it meets some brass couplings. Its usually at this coupling it leaks.

Other places it has leaked are from the brass elbows (they seem to split)

It has also blown a diaphram once.

My advice is to, unplug it, open it up and dry everything. Then wrap some bits of dry toilet paper round the hose couplings.  Shut it and turn the pump on for say 2 mins. Unplug it and find out which pieces are wet and you will locate the leak.

While your in there have a look at the wiring as ours was very poor and the lead off the choke had actually melted the casing, basically they dont strip the wires far enough before inserting them into the main connector block >> arcing >> v hot over time.

I can dig out some pics of ours if you need any further help.

Also had this on mine,wires were all burnt and did not look safe,also had prob with heat and run shorting out,inside the top where all the wires are,not ideal
