County Shows
« on: May 23, 2009, 07:57:16 pm »
Been to my county show today and thought about having a stand this year but didnt because decided to go this year and have look at where the stand would be located.  came away thinkin it would be a decent idea.

it works out about 500 quid for 3 days it a covered and divided 15 by 10 feet plot example long marque divided into sections fully divided open front.

has any one else had atrade stand and how did you get on i am thinking it would be a good way of promoting interest and in my company and booking quotes. at the end of the day you can spend that much on yell with no calls.

Pete Sweeney did something along those lines and picked up a good contact from it.

We did one once, worst two days of my life!

We gave out loads of leaflets with specail offers, did a load of demos with the truckmount. Really didn't work for us and wish hadn't bothered, had virtually no return. People didn't seem interested, they were there with to buy stuff. Plus the second day the weather went really bad

£500 plus three days work, how much would you need to make as a return?

I won't be doing one again. But then I'm sure some have had good ones. You pay your money you take your chance.

Regards

Marketing like this can fulfill at least 2 roles.  You can be there to make immediate sales, but you will also be in a position to show off your knowledge, skills and professionalism which will help to build your brand image.

Not everyone wants their carpets cleaning this week, this month or even this year, but if there's something about you that sticks in their minds, you're off to a flying start when they're ready.  Obviously, these marketing exercises must be researched and focused at your target audience.

IMO, it is essential to have a live demonstration or two. Noise for us could be a problem.  The events I have taken part in have all been indoors and I've demonstrated correct vacuuming and spotting techniques. I've done very well out of them.  For a county show, a T/M would be ideal or porty with a genny, but try to place as far away as poss to avoid too much noise.  If you demo spotting techniques, you could also sell spotters with your name on to reinforce your brand.

Safe and happy showtime :)

some really good points.

Ken have taken on board what you have posted about noise was goin to put an lcd screen up and have a promo video playing cause i think the sound of my powerflite would be an annoyance to other exhibitors do some spotting demos and sell promos take peoples details and have various incentives for people to book in free surveys and quotations. If i walk away with 50 names and addresses i would be happy. as this would equate to a few jobs to pay for the show days. i believe it would increase awareness of my company image.

Hi Richard

When we speak about Yell I can help you with this too as I have done a big show like this.

Give me a call this week. Just not Tuesday or Friday.

Cheers
