Pig of a job
« on: May 08, 2009, 05:34:00 pm »
Got stuck into a minger of a job today ,started at about 12.30,it`s a 3 yr old new house, from a letting agy !

Now imagine a 4 bed 3 storey house full of people, never have they once used a hoover by the look of it,the cleaners had been in prior to me,supposedly hoovering ! May as well have not bothered.
I started at the top at prob 12.45,trying to vac up as much fluff as possible, good soak of multi pro ,then blitzed it with the sebo,at one point i had my foot on it for extra umph, made no difference  :(..

by 3.30 i had done 2 rooms,a hallway and nearly a flight of stairs.Had quoted £260,rang up letting agy and said it`s going to be more.
So got the rest to do tomorrow morning, carpets are pale off white with sort of pink flecks,it`s polly and it`s coming out clean,it`s just the huge amount of fluff, and hair that is matted into it,think i will go over what i cleaned today with the vac tomorrow.Having to use a stiff brush on the stairs, had 1/4 of a bucket full of soggy matted gim, when i emptied the machine

How about the stiff polyprop brush on a rotary (if you have one) it can be hard work holding onto the machine but it does pull the hair and fluff out (great on pet hair)

Nice :)

You really need a rotary on that sort of job mate, the duo is useless for heavy-duty work.  One of the bigger CRB machines like the host or envirodri might do the job, but I don't own one and I've never used one on this sort of job so couldn't compare.

Dragging the rotary up all those stairs sure is a pain, but it's a lot less hassle than standing on your duo to make it work!  The added plus point is you get a much better agitation of your prespray too.  I'd normally use the brush attachment for fluffy hairy carpets but even the bonnet works well, it kind of twizzles the fluff and hair into balls so at least you can get it up when you extract.

Incidentally, what vac do you use?

for hair and fluff pre-spray and then use a carpet brush, it's amazing how much it will pick up which you can dispose of down the loo,

I like it when you said you rang up the letting agents for more money! I can just image a Nothern agent saying yes ;D I've got more chance of a night out with Pamela Anderson and a video camera.

Had to be done really, job is more like a restoration than a clean  :(
They will be putting quite a whack ontop i am sure, people that lived there deserve to pay the price ,for being so filthy ! and not respecting  the property.Off to do another stint soon
