Just done a LARGE conservatory today. Has taken me all day to complete.

When i was rinsing the glass roof there was more dirt appearing. Im guessing this is coming from under the seals.

Apart from the insides not being clean, it looks pretty good apart from the roof.

What can you guys suggest ?

Am going back to the customer later on to explain the problem and thought someone might have a solution for the problem as im sure you have come across this before.

Glass roofs are usually a pain. The angle isn't particularly steep for draining the particals away. Have a look at it when it's dry - might not be so bad. Hose pipe first helps wash it away then pure to finish.

Thats how i did it... used the custys hose and gave it a dam good wash down.

Is going to be a good regular clean for me on the house and conny windows. Just want it right

Can you be more specific when you say "more dirt"?

I've noticed fairly large specks of dirt and bits and pieces appearing and I guess they are things just falling out of the air. They look bigger and more dramatic than they really are because the water forms a meniscus around them and this acts like a lens to focus the light.

By the time the roof is dry, the bits are still there, but much less noticeable - and are quite unavoidable as they just fall out of the sky!

(This is the same stuff that falls on your patio. Have you noticed how you can sweep it clean one day and there's loads of dust and bits there the next day?)

Or do you mean something different?

It seems as im rinsing off, the water brings out more dirt from under the seals as its always towards the frame.

Not sure what else to say. Am going to go back shortly and have a look when its dry.

You could always use a squeegie on a pole to get rid of water and bits of dirt.

I've had the same problem at a number of times, it drives me up the wall.

The angle of the roof is just too shallow to flush the debris away, and even if you have managed to do so, more comes out of the wherever.

I know this defeats the purpose of WFP but I use a squeegee on an extension pole and drag the dirt down after WFP,it's always just beside the framework and the more you scrub and rinse the more dirt comes out so rather than use lots of water and wasteing your time just WFP as normal and squeegee just off the beams,works for me every time

Don't know if glass roofs are any better sealed than poly ones but.... on one of the 1st poly con roofs I did I hosed the roof off but made the mistake of hosing the gap under the crest capping to get the dirt out, big mistake, water came in the conservatory and was dripping down the light fitting onto the armchair .
All dried out in the end though, no more hosing for me, just wfp.

That diagram of a piece of dirt looked very similar to Australia to me, could be a bigger problem than you first thought.  :

When you are rinsing a cons roof with a hose you are nearly always directing water UP the roof, this causes some of the dirt to be left behind.

Make up an old pole with an old brush angled so that the jets are pushing the water and dirt down the glass and most of the problem will disappear. Rig it up so you can feed it water from a hose pipe.

Yeah,thats what I do,I have the brushead facing me and it does help but there is always dirt that still comes out from under the seals I find but not as much as if you used the brush normally.
