Hi

I did the NFS course

www.natonalfloodschool.co.uk

The mental aspects do have to be considered also as John has pointed out.

Must admit my wife is concerned about that area.

The most important aspect for anyone contemplating this business is to be sure you can cope with the phsycological aspects. Seems great and macho when you see it on the telly but when you actually get to the scene it can play on your mind for ages afterwards.
Last one I did, bloke killed his ex wife, her brother and his 2 kids, all multiple stabbings. Great when you are in the thick of it, bit hairy when you go back on your own to check things and issue a clearance certificate. All those noises.

Thats a good point John. If you are approaching this with the macho thing then your motivations are wrong. I think knowing that it is a rough job to start with is the first step. If you have had a sheltered life than perhaps this is not for you. Still, I am only thinking out loud as I don't think any of us (without experience) can truly understand the impact an environment like that would have you until you are in the middle of it.

It is not all blood and gore , yesterday ,I cleaned a toilet ,and macerator which was blocked , in a mobile phone shop staffed only by women, there was all sorts down there, and  more! but the invoice will be for far more per hour than I have ever earned in 16 years of carpet cleaning.
There is loads of this type of work about if you know where to look.
I clean carpets
I dry Buildings

if i was going to do this course i would target the police, social services, and any other organisations thta deal with this type of work,

police would call you in to clean the cells after the dirty naughty people have smeared poo all over the cell, and may have done them selves harm even,

social services deal with the elderly and would call you in to clean after a person has died for a long time after they have neglegted them, (as they do)and woul clean it to make room for another coffin dodger to move in.

county councils would call you in after they have found people in their public toilets done some silly things

pubs and night club owners,   would call you in maybe after a big fight or anything similar,

if you would like to add on to this feel free as this would give someone a further idea of the scope of this business and the potential earnings

many thanx jonny

Do not under estimate the physiological ramifications of these jobs and remember most of the time you will be dealing with the owner of the property if they are a landlord not to bad if a private residence they are more than likely the next of kin. Never do this kind of work alone and always make sure PPE is appropriate to the job in hand. Jabs are up to date. Yes it pays well but there are many reasons why it pays well.
When a life ends in the worst possible way, and after the police and coroner have left, someone still has to clean up.
