Hi Nat,

Well it can be simple but it takes time. It wont appear over night.

So you have a website. I take it, it is active. So if people typed in your domain name like www.noitall.com they will be taken to your site. If this is correct then its active. if not then you need to activate it.

If you want it to appear straight away then im afraid that will cost money and lots of it.

Alternatively:
So the next step is KEYWORDS. Like cleaning. Domestic cleaning Richmond. Richmond being the town. Office cleaning richmond.

these key words need to be in your text on your website.

Depending on how relevent they are to someone searching you will appear. It will depend on Google and where it Ranks you.

Also the name of your website, Your URL (DOMAIN NAME WILL HELP RANK YOU)

Your pages will also if designed well enough rank you as well. Not all pages are ranked.

Oh and depening on the server it can take 6 weeks and more to appear on Google and by the way you may not have Page 1 ranking. You maybe on page 3 or worse - 20+.

Look at Search Engine Optomisation known as SEO. Theres lots to read and you can do it yourself. But before your site goes live correct your mistakes now as iot will put you back and Google takes ages to index pages.

Also do not keep changing your URL to your pages as when users go to click on a cached site they will get an error

Hope this helps

If you would like me to take a look I will and I might be able to help.

You dont need to submit any more!

Google bot will find it. As will Yahoo. But by all means submit away

It is a better idea for a new site to go ahead and submit to google.  Google bot will find it but it could take some time.  Probably longer than if you just submit it yourself.  Googlebot works through web, it does what it says it crawls the web.  If there are no links to your page it could take ages for it to find you.  It will find you fast the higher page rank the links are found on.  It will crawl a page rank 6 a lot more times in the same amount of time as a page 1 or 0.  To get your page on the free google you need to start establishing links.  Believe it or not, who links to you is important but quantity is very important also.  I found a program called digi xmas semi automated sumitter.  I think I paid 14 us dollars and it has paid for itself quite well.  It give you a list of directories to submit to and does what it says, it semi automaitcally submits for you.   I have achieved first page for the keywords that I want. Office Cleaning Mansfield, Office Cleaning Nottingham (that one took a little longer because of the competiton on the keywords) and office cleaning chesterfield.  I have quite a few links now so only submit to directories of PR 2 or higher now.  I also have page one results for other key searches such as builders cleans mansfield.  Almost anything with cleaning and eastmidlands in it.

If you are aware what meta tags are they are very useful.  Not as useful as they used to be but if you have a meta tag description it will show on your searches which comes in handy.  I use "Reliable office cleaning in the etc...." so when you do a search for say office cleaning mansfield, my tag that shows is not TCC Eastmidlands and some text from my page, but the Reliable Office Cleaning.  I find it handy because it gets attention.

You can find out how compliant your meta tags are and their relevance to your page with a free program at this web site http://www.submitexpress.com/analyzer/ .  It is also useful to investigate competitors websites as you just type in their url and it will give the information they use, such as key words, meta tag descriptions so on and so on.

There is a lot you can do, but you have to keep on top of it all the time.  I submit to directories at least once a week still because you can be dropped from some directories and some of them will blow you off and never list you.  It will take about a month before you start seeing results but if you are diligent you will save loads.  I have a total of 250 GBP invested in my site.  That includes the URL, server for 2 years, web design (did my self with a book for dummies), SEO to get to the 1st page of free listings for my keywords (fisrt page is a must 80% of people never go to the second).  Just keep reading and apply as necessary.

Cheers

I dont know if this might help, i have 3 websites with vistaprint, the simple and cheapest method to get the site on first page is set up a googlead account, you can set your budget for as low as £20 per month and enter 20 keywords, mine has worked brill and now have over 500 people a month looking at it

It can be the simplest but definitely not the cheapest.
