Cimex are a wonderful multi cleaning system I cleaned carpets with Cimex 20 years ago domestic and commercial, berbers, wiltons, axminsters, only machine that can do as much as 200 metres an hour.

www.southerncountiescleaning.co.uk/cleaning_products/cimex-encapcyclone-package-p-117.html

Very good at lifting the pile and cleaning rugs with no swirl patterns, down side is that they are a bit heavy but not as heavy as most portis.

Actually you need both, to clean a suite you can't run the Cimex on it. I'm truckmounted ( do a search if you don't know ) but when I first started Cimex were the Rolls Royce and still are, I used to clean domestic carpet just with shampoo and they would dry within 30 mins but on some bad ones and also stairs you need an extraction machine, I'd Cimex the carpet and then would extract after, the best thing is that I only needed a cheap extraction machine as the hard work was already done.

Commercially you just scrub and go it is IMO the fastest and cheapest way to clean.

Shaun

PS it also doesn't clean curtains ;D

The Cimex comes in 3 sizes.
The smallest one would be more suited to domestic IMO.
Its reputed the motors will last ages and ages.
I saw one of the small ones last Monday and it was VERY old but still working.

(and before you make a comment Shaun, yes it must have been well used when I was a young lad).

The cimex is a good machine but although you could use it for some domestics to be honest there are better machines for that purpose. It really comes into it's own when used in commercial situations as it is extremely fast and with the encap product you will out perform hwe in most circumstances.

The Cimex is a great bit of kit but really expensive new
do a lot of rugs and they are the best for deep pile

Cimex are probably the preferred "rotary" for all CC's but the cost can be prohibitive.

They are large, heavy and cumbersome and I personally wouldn't use one as a main tool for residentials. For commercials they're great as long as there's enough space around and beneath desks etc.

When used within a multi-system clean, the preferred way tends to be to rinse/extract first in the normal way, then encap and leave. You need the encap to encapsulate soil and then dry. Having said that, some do encap first then rinse. It's better to use a lower foaming  encap solution for this. I have tried Prochem's encap and found it worked well in an LM situation, but it didn't foam up like some others I've used, so this may be suitable for a low foaming rinse, but make sure you have some defoamer just incase. Otherwise, just trial different brands.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

He or she has only been on ebay since 5th March so not too bad.  I think they may be a trader (thats no problem-just my observation).

If the machines a good one and it looks in good nick and it dont go any higher then its not a bad price.

I dont think the price is too high !! , if the machine is in good condition , I paid alot more for mine and it was an ex demo one.

Look at it another way , you could easily get your money back on one job.

Ken ,
I have just re-read your reply.
You say some encap then rinse !!!!!   What is the point of this ? as encap is designed to dry then simply vaccumed .

Shaun , I have found that a simple aggitattion of the encap solution on stairs gives very acceptable results.

I have a bucket of solution , a soft scrubbing brush , dip the brush in solution and aggitate in to the carpet.

Geoff

Like you, I can't see the logic. You need the product to dry and encapsulate first, hence my input about rinse/extract then post encap.

The info about encap as a pre-treatment came from Australia where this very topic was discussed quite recently, and one or two were praising this method.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
