If you thought the SLX was good........
« on: March 25, 2009, 08:27:24 pm »
Wait 'till you get your hands on the new one. I popped home this morning and the postman had been. Took the new pole out of the tube (the courier had already ripped the end off for me, screwed a brush on and a push fit valve (brilliant) and off back to work.
This pole has an extra section over the 25' version but strangely feels even lighter than the original, i think it's to do with the smaller diameter top section and extra unused section in the base that gives it even better balance than the old one at second storey level. It's certainly a good looking pole with new designed shiney clamps making it look like a musical instrument. The weave is totally different to the old one and looks very similar to the S2 on the outside. The clamps are a bit 'marmite' if your not used to them but I like them and they work very well. No need to carry an allen key anymore - just adjust the knurled nut when required. The black pole hose supplied is very supple and feels much lighter than the old clear stuff but does catch every plant because it lays so low to the ground.
So, another great pole from Gardiners probably the best for price and performance for that length, it just makes me wonder where poles go from here?
Anyone want a well used 25' SLX?  ;)

What do you think? Not as light as fishing poles obviously but very fast and no sections to leave poking out of the bushes.  :)

I used to carry mine in a golf bag with extending legs which worked well - but the SLX is a whole new ball game - it feels it is just as light as my fishing pole for anything above ground floor work.

One commercial job I did yesterday had a run of 25 ground floor windows and for that I just swopped back to the top end of my fishing pole. But other than that I use the SLX for everything.

On domestic it is far less fiddly than the modular - of course.

Today I did my worst paying domestic stuff - compact ex-council 2/3 bed £6/£7 houses/£5/£6 bungalows in 1970's blocks of three or four - lots of alleys set back from the road and long hose runs from the van - but between 1pm and 4.30pm, getting used to a new pole I still got comfortably into into 3 figures.

And yesterday with a mix of commercial and domestic I reckon I earned 20% more than I would normally. It was up there as one of my top three best days ever!

Maybe it's "new toy-itis" and wanting to be proved right in my buying decision - but I don't think so.
