a few try it on

my advice, let them know you offer a year round service and if they dont want you in the winter you might replace them if a customer who wants you all year round comes along

one or two usually tell us to miss a clean or two but its never been a problem for me. I think in my first winter wc i had about 150 customers and about 10 put me off untill the new year.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

my earnings are normally a little lower over christmas, but mainly because I take a week off, over the christmas and newyear period. I do get a couple that just want to leave it at christmas until after the new year, which is fine. Load of people tip at christmas which ballances it out a little.

Just drop this type of business. Not worth it.
 Go for regulars only.

Only one or two, i had a few come back today haha, made an extra £21.00 though so cant complain :)

If you know they are going to do that stick a quid or two on, its only the first clean after winter that is a problem!

I don't do those ones out of principle. They'd think you were some right muppet ready to jump when they ask. Don't give them the satisfaction. Most of them already think we're desperate.

I actually welcome it, cos I find it difficult to keep up during winter, weather/short days, so a few dropping out helps me keep up with the round.

People like that are a pain, but you can get more done in the summer, so charge them a premium for dropping you over winter, say 15% more than their neighbours, and if they find out and ask why tell 'em and if they don't like it, drop 'em :)

I don't take on summer only merchants but .... now I have a full round I do occasionally offer a monthly in summer and an every-other-month in winter option if it suits me.
It's a game of three halves!

I agree, you need to put some on hold to offset the shorter days and bad weather. But if they say leave it for now don't just say OK. Make a firm arrangement to come back in March.

Don't advertise the fact to everyone but if a job is worth it...take the hit but make the 1st clean of the season a 1st time price...

Cheers
