glass wont stay clean wfp
« on: March 21, 2009, 02:40:22 pm »
very weird thing, 1 window on a custys house wont stay clean, shes not complaining as such, just curious  why it is just this 1 window, i have even spent more time on it, when it is dry it is crystal clear no spotting, but every 2 weeks when i go back, it is covered in dirt, and the rest of the windows are still spotless, as we don't use soaps i am baffled why it is not stopping the dirt blowing onto it, sticking, anyway i decided to trad this one, and surprisingly it is staying clean, her back kitchen window is facing a farmers field, i wonder if there is something in the dust that makes it stick to the glass. do any of you get this problem on some windows

I had this with a house once saying "they look fantastic when they are done but after a few days they are dirty again"

I offered to do trad ... for double price lol, little small georgians underpriced anyway to which she declined...oh well

Going to tread (fairly) carefully here as I seem to get shot down in flames sometimes ;D Jouk, if the window gives you probs after wfp and not after trad. DO IT TRAD and move on. Simplify your life.

Doesn't make sense, trad should attract more dirt.  ???

Are you using GG3/4 by any chance?

no just pure water, i was talking to someone who said it maybe overspray from the farmers when crop spraying. the wind is possibly blowing it directly on to the glass, this window is only a few feet from the field, i never thought of that, the rest of the windows are perfect, gg4 is what i used to clean this one window

If the window is next to an open field then just the dust from the field will have an effect.  If it rains and is windy the window will get dirty regardless of how it is cleaned.  It's probably not been to windy and wet since you did them trad.

As i've said before, this whole wfp glass staying cleaner for longer is way, way over-hyped. Yes, I know the theory & as for fairy users it's probably true. BUT, (& I've done real world tests) use GG3/4 &/or squeegee off & you'll find the glass stays just as clean & even cleaner for longer!!

Just one of many examples-
I clean 3 newish bungalows, all built at the same time. One has dormers, the other two don't. I wfp the one with dormers & trad the other two (for acsess reasons). I have done these accounts for 4 years & every single time the one wfp'd is far dirtier than the others. not just the dormers either, ALL the windows! ??? Infact, out of the three, the one wfp'd is the only one ever to comment how dirty her windows are!

I totally agree with you on this one.

I have a few houses i do traditional and a few i do WFP in the same road and the one's done traditional with squeegie off always seems to stay cleaner than the one's done with WFP.

I used to tell customers that windows stay cleaner for longer with WFP as a good selling tool bit i don't anymore as its just not true.

Is it the only window on that side of the property?

no simon, there is a bathroom window above same side as the window in question, because it is frosted glass, she cant see if that is the same, i use wfp not ladders, so cant see it properly if it is  dirty or not, it does look clean though, i have many houses round that same area, and they are all spotless using wfp, only this house is very close to the fields
