One is not amused.
This was in Monday`s Dail Mail.
" For the first time in living memory the Queen has splashed out on a new carpet for the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace.
The 156ft long room - the size of two tennis courts has been lavishly re-carpeted at a cost of £250,000 but just two days later disaster struck.
A footman was wheeling a trolley of hot drinks across the pristine carpet when one of the wheels fell off scattering all the beverages.
Despite the best efforts of Palace cleaning staff a huge dark stain proved impossible to remove forcing royal officials to order an entire section of the carpet to be replaced at a cost of £60,000.
An insider said " they spent a WEEK in the gallery trying to remove the stain but instead of making it better, it seems they opened up the fibres of the carpet and made it even worse, it was ruined".
Last night Buckingham Palace confirmed that the new carpet had been spoiled an official said " it left a large stain at one end. Professional cleaners were called in after staff efforts failed but to no avail "
Can you imagine being the " professional" that had to break the bad news.
"Er sorry your majesty its f****d ".
The worst part for our industry is the fact that they viewed a professional as the last resort and not the first person to call.
