Expensive Hot Water
« on: March 06, 2009, 06:23:54 pm »
Why do these systems cost so much, from around £2500 to £3800 + VAT?

Why is a small heater unit so expensive?

When you can DIY a gas system for around £300, either there is a huge mark up or these heaters should have a lifetime guarantee.

The whole thing is completely over priced if you look at the likes of brotex etc to keep these people in a job, but regardless of my thoughts on that they are of a good qaulity however I would be more inclined to a DIY setup.

I may well got hot on next van fit (not soon!).

Waterfed Pole Systems in Grantham are the cheapest fitted system I have seen so far - advertised around £1700 + Vat for a retro fit. Still seems expensive for a simple heater, though a little more realistic.

I`ve spent double on holidays and they don`t earn you anything.

my concern from a business point of view if someone crashes into your van with the 10k thermopure written off your out of business, not unless you have a spare 10k but of course the qaulity is very good.

If I spent that much on hot water, I would personally feel very ripped off.

3K as a business investment is nothing, your investing 3K and getting real advantages using hot water.Don`t doubt hot water until you`ve used it it`s far better than cold and that`s a fact not an opinion,i`m sure the cold water users will knock this post but they ain`t used hot have they.

It's expensive & I would assume a huge mark up. The good thing though, is that there seems to be much more up & coming competition from suppliers for hot systems, which should result in more realistic prices to come.  ;)

NWH, most of your "facts" have turned out to be "oppinions" so far, so the jury's out on this one just yet for me! ;D FACT!
