« on: February 25, 2009, 07:15:49 pm »
Ive been asked to price these windows above 4 shops, they havent been done for 6 years, 1st clean will def need to be done trad but do these tupe of windows come up bad with wfp, if i do wfp after 1st clean will it just make a mess of the window below, and out of curiosity what would you charge.

If i were you i would start out how i mean to continue,

Get your tfr or whatever you use out, and i wouldn't be too far away from neat if they are that grubby, and give it a good scrub, you will also get rid of dirt you wouldn't be able to get rid of doing it trad, and if there is any flaky paint it will all come off, get there nice and early and go from there

I would do it trad, as the paintwork looks in poor condition ,wfp will just make a mess of it and leave dirty marks everywhere. Price I would charge is£4 per block of 5 panes , try for a fiver if you think you can get it

I would do them traditional as the paint looks flaky and would be oxidised.

I wouldn't worry about the shops below as it like they have been boarded up  ;D

Probably due to credit crunch.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

If theyre as bad as they look I think Id be tempted to allow for a whole load of time ont hem if theyre to come up anywhere near half decent.

Id be unsure the people paying would want to allow the kind of money Id be thinking of, especially if it meant getting the ladder off the van, I think Ive forgotten how to do that  ;D

If you intend to clean them trad on the 1st clean then change over to wfp afterwards, you will still have the same problems as if if was a 1st clean with wfp.

These type of frames hold loads of dirt in the gaps of the frame, as soon as water hits this dirt it runs straight down, so it does not matter how many times you trad clean them, as soon as a wfp is used and all this hidden dirt will run down from the windows.

Next these windows are more difficult to clean but not impossible, what I do is on a 1st clean I change my brush over to an old one I only use on very dirty 1st cleans, this stops my regular brush head becoming contaminated.

I then really scrub the frames down, while jetting plenty of water into the cracks, after this is done I wait for about 15 minutes untill they stop dripping water, I then change the brush head to my regular one and then clean the glass.

I follow this up with plenty of rinsing.

On the next cleans I don't have to worry too much about the frames because they are still free of major dirt, a quick clean is normally ok for them.

If you are going to clean them trad or wfp, you need to be careful about the amount of people who are moving around your workng area, you don't want them knocking you off your ladder or them tripping over your hose.

Also with wfp cleaning, you have the added problem of the water dripping down onto the shops customers and also onto any shop fitings and stock which most shop keepers kept outside their shops.

I would either clean them very early in the morning or on a sunday.
