newbie in search of a squeegee
« on: February 17, 2009, 07:29:30 pm »
Hi everyone Could someone please point me in the right direction of what you think is the best squeegee out there.
Many sites say that the unger ErgoTec® Handle is the world's top selling handle so is it the best please any help would be really appreciated.

I already own an unger squeegee which i bought from screwfix but i'm not too sure about it. ( it does not say unger anywhere on the handle so i'm unsure if it really is unger)

Thankyou

Unger Ergotech is a good squeegy; you won't go wrong with that.

But I reckon the rubber you put in your squeegy is more important; don't buy cheap squeegie rubbers; spend at least £2.00 on a 14 inch rubber from a reputable supplier.  They do a better job; as in they're more effective and create less work for you; and generally last longer too.

yep, unger rubbers are no good, i use  Pulex soft winter&summer, i just like the feel and they hard wearing in my experience. last even longer now i'm wfp! i've had my unger Ergotec for nearly 6yrs same channel too. last forever and they feel good. but i've never used other makes for longer than a few windows. Tim,

I find the Unger Ergotech fine, I've used it for the past seven years, but based on your post I'm going to order an Ettore Pro Grip.

I've used them for quite a long time too, don't get me wrong, they would do the job, but when I switched I really thoroughly enjoyed the Ettore so so much more then the Unger, and I wouldn't recommend anything else now. I think it's the channel that does it and the overall balance. The rubber sits much better in the Ettore's channel. :)

btw Tosh, I would get some new rubber to go along with them, if you are using Unger rubbers now, try Ettore or SYR, Ettore is by far the best, but doesn't last as long. SYR I found is a perfect balance. Buy them at Soap National.

I found the Unger rubbers hit and miss, mostly miss.

Can't believe (d)unger is ahead of Ettore in the poll!

That's like saying a Lada Riva is better than an Aston Martin! ;D

Its all about personal preference just as with detergent.  Personally I can't believe any of you use Ettore. The one time I did I thought they were crap and took them all back. I've been using Unger soft for 17 years. Can't beat it IMO. I think Gaz has enough to go on now and will have to make his own mind up maybe through trial and error. We're done here now I think.
